- TSMC has announced plans to build a third leading-edge semiconductor fabrication plant in Phoenix, Arizona, bringing its total investment in the state to over $65 billion. The company has signed a preliminary memorandum of terms with the U.S. Department of Commerce for up to $6.6 billion in direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The new fab will produce advanced 2nm process technology chips, with production expected to begin by the end of the decade. The three fabs are anticipated to create approximately 6,000 high-tech jobs and significantly enhance the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem.
