The Saline Township Board of Trustees has rejected a zoning change that would have permitted Related Digital to develop a multi-building data center project on farmland. The proposed plan included three data centers totaling 1.160,000 square feet, a 100,000-square-foot warehouse, and an 80,000-square-foot generator building. The board cited inconsistency with the township’s master plan to preserve agricultural land, concerns about fire and emergency response capacity, lack of changed circumstances to warrant rezoning, and significant public opposition.
