Xcel Energy is proposing a major battery storage build-out at its Sherco Energy Hub in central Minnesota, increasing battery capacity there to 600 MW and adding an additional 135.5 MW at the Blue Lake facility in Shakopee. The construction is slated to begin in 2026 with customer service expected in late 2027.
